Two Roles, One Platform

Built for How Projects Actually Work

Building practitioners manage the DBPA process across all disciplines. Design practitioners manage their own compliance. The platform connects them.

For Building Practitioners

Stop Chasing. Start Managing.

You can't get an OC until every regulated design has a compliant declaration. Right now you're tracking this in spreadsheets, emails, and phone calls. There's a better way.

Project Compliance Dashboard

Create a project, add your disciplines, and see the compliance status of every practitioner at a glance. Green means good. Red means action needed. No more guesswork.

  • Add practitioners by discipline — structural, fire, hydraulic, facades, waterproofing, electrical
  • Auto-check registration status via NSW Fair Trading
  • Track PI insurance expiry across your entire team
  • Traffic-light dashboard — know exactly what's outstanding

Automated Declaration Requests

Set up your project team once. The system automatically requests CIRDs, DCDs, and completion declarations at the right time. No more chasing emails.

  • Automatic emails to practitioners at each design milestone
  • 3-day and 7-day reminders for outstanding items
  • Escalation alerts when responses are overdue
  • Full audit trail of every request sent and response received
CIRD requested Sent to John Smith (Structural) — 15 Mar
CIRD received Structural CIRD v1 uploaded — 18 Mar
DCD requested Auto-sent after CC drawings issued — 2 Apr
DCD overdue — reminder sent 7-day reminder to Mike Chen (Hydraulic) — 9 Apr

Design Variation Tracking

When a design changes on site, the designer must issue an updated declaration. Log the variation, and the system notifies the right practitioner automatically.

  • Log variations with photos and descriptions from site
  • Auto-notify the affected design practitioner
  • Track: pending, acknowledged, updated declaration received
  • OC blocked until all variations are resolved

The Stakes

What Happens When You're Not Prepared

The Building Commissioner is actively auditing Class 2 projects. The penalties apply to building practitioners AND design practitioners.

Without a System

  • Up to $33,000 per contravention

Missing CIRDs, incomplete DCDs, unresolved variations — each carries a separate penalty.

  • OC blocked by one missing declaration

One practitioner who hasn't submitted their DCD holds up the entire project. You have no visibility until it's too late.

  • Variations undocumented = non-compliant designs

Design changes on site without updated declarations mean the building is constructed outside the regulated design. That's your liability.

  • 14 days to produce records you don't have

When the audit letter arrives, you're scrambling through emails from 6 different consultants under pressure.

With DBPA Shield

  • Every discipline visible in one dashboard

Traffic-light status for registrations, declarations, and variations across all practitioners on your project.

  • Declarations requested and tracked automatically

The system emails practitioners at each milestone. You see when it was sent, received, and if it's overdue.

  • Variations logged and resolved before OC

Site changes trigger automatic notifications. Updated declarations tracked until received. Nothing slips through.

  • OC audit pack exported in one click

Professional PDF with every declaration, registration, and variation record. Hand it to the auditor with confidence.

Based on Real Audits

What the NSW Building Commissioner Actually Checks

These findings are drawn from actual NSW Building Commissioner audit reports on Class 2 buildings.

Common Finding

CIRDs lacking sufficient detail

"Design practitioners have not provided sufficient information in drawings" — missing falls to drain, unspecified products, no penetration details, no movement joint interfaces.

Contravention of Code of Practice Sch.4 cl.2(1), cl.3(d) — Max penalty $33,000
Common Finding

DCD Part 1 Details incomplete

"Each drawing must be specified with title/number/revision" — missing or incomplete drawing schedules in the Design Compliance Declaration.

Contravention of Code of Practice — Max penalty $33,000
Audit Focus Area

Integration of CIRDs between disciplines

Auditors check that designs from different practitioners coordinate — structural accounts for waterproofing, facade considers structural fixings.

Audit Focus Area

Design variations not documented

Changes made on site without updated CIRDs or DCDs. The as-built condition doesn't match the regulated design. No variation trail.

Registration Issue

Practitioner registration lapsed mid-project

Declarations issued while registration was expired are invalid. The building practitioner is expected to verify registration status before accepting declarations.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Design Practitioners use the platform to manage their own compliance — registration, CPD, declarations, and self-audits. Building Practitioners use it to manage DBPA compliance across an entire project — tracking every discipline, every practitioner, and every declaration. Design practitioners can also be invited to projects by building practitioners.
Yes, completely free. Practitioner Profile, CPD Log, Declaration Logbook, and Per-Job Audit are all free. Responding to project invitations and uploading declarations is also free. We charge building practitioners for project management features because that's where the workflow automation lives.
When you create a project and add practitioners, the system sends email requests for CIRDs and DCDs at the milestones you configure. If a practitioner hasn't responded within your set timeframe, automatic reminders are sent. You see the full timeline of requests and responses in your dashboard.
Practitioners can respond to their first request via email link without an account. But creating a free account gives them a dashboard to manage all their projects, track their own compliance, and keep a searchable record of every declaration they've issued.
The platform covers the Design and Building Practitioners Act 2020 (DBPA), Design and Building Practitioners Regulation 2021 (DBPR) including the Code of Practice (Schedule 4), and associated requirements for the NSW Planning Portal.
Your data is securely stored on our servers and linked to your account. Project data is shared only between the building practitioner and the design practitioners they invite. You can export your data at any time.
